GIFT OF GIVING

From the moment a Good Architect is onboarded onto a new project, the physical space of the superstructure is most often assumed to be the only product. However, from our earlier blogs and active discussions in the field of architecture, one can surmise that the impact on people, health, and environment are also the gifts that come with new design. Well, at least one hopes so, always.

Redesigning or designing new spaces by keeping the end user in mind is no easy task, especially when it comes to University settings. Nowadays, updating educational spaces with enhanced technology that is ubiquitous when it comes to classroom design, student learning and student safety has become increasingly important. The types of users, field and discipline of work, activities, noise levels, interiors, and many such critical attributes are considered in order to design any space. When new students walk through the campus on day one, they are not only observing the campus on how it’s being used but also, the spaces that they can relate to and call their own. Soon after, their favorite spot or go-to places on campus during events or exam times help them better associate and navigate the areas with ease, stress-free.

HHAE has recently completed a few interesting projects for a University that range from glass block stairwell reconstruction, athletics trophy room redesign, to a library floor renovation and nursing student’s center and lounge. All these projects required the understanding of a variety of inputs from student needs, staff requirements, and administrative activities that lead to the beneficial use of space for all users. The gifts that came along by updating spaces to current trends and technologies, impacted on better student interaction and attendance, enhanced health and wellbeing, and creating new collaborative and productive spaces for all users. Therefore, enriching the potential for further growth, learning and outcomes for younger generations to come.

In conjunction, our team’s commitment echoes our passion of service with Justin Hutton joining the Boys & Girls Club Board in November 2024; “…It’s more important now than ever to assist our communities and create a stable and strong environment…”

Architecturally, while the gift of redesigning one space can be measured in economic terms. A student’s sense of belonging or resultant wellbeing of student interactions are pretty complex parameters that are not easy to estimate in dollar amounts. Those are simply, the gifts of design that work, better. HHAE has always strived and continues to provide the best overall value to project for the client while also keeping the end users in mind. Our continued gift is we care about our clients and projects, which is why we consistently spend as much time as needed to produce the best solution we can. Signed, A Good Architect.
